Bangladesh's approach during the game against Pakistan was astonishing. Whenever anyone has questioned Bangladesh's right to be playing cricket at this level, we have had angry responses from passionate Bangladeshi supporters. Whilst I appreciate the passion, the fact is Bangladesh are not yet ready for international cricket, nor do they look like beating any half decent team consistently in the foreseeable future. Occasional victories are going to happen - a team that plays 35 matches in a year are bound to win 1 or 2. But I really can't see them achieving anything beyond that.
Today's match or mismatch was a case in point. It reminded me of Sunny Gavaskar's infamous innings against England in this match http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65035.html. If Bangladesh do not have the desire to compete, they should not be playing, it's as simple as that. Yes they were most likely going to lose no matter how they approached it. But the fact that they did not even try is embarrassing to both cricket and Bangladesh as a team.

I dont really care if there are a couple shit teams that play ODIs
But test matches ! Please, Tamim was awesome in England, but Bangladesh ? a real embarrassment to cricket..
So please if you want Bangladesh, WI to play Test cricket, let them atleast be in a 2nd tier !
or why have extra test playing nations at all ????
The problem with the 2 tier system is that it will kill the interest in the game in countries such as NZ and the WI who are likely to find themselves there. Cricket needs a strong WI team - unfortunately I've given up hopes on that happening.
Also imagine if India drop down to tier 2. Playing tests against Bangladesh and WI all the time will cripple interest in a format that is already struggling to stay alive in the subcontinent.
Tamim was awesome yes - but like you mentioned Bangladesh were crap. I care about poor teams playing ODI's also. ODI's can and should still survive. These teams will not help. Already CA have decided to implement the 2 innings 20 over a side 'ODI'. Problem I have is that this is not a tweak to the ODI - unlike the super sub and all the other innovations that were tried. Atleast the concept was the same. What CA are doing is introducing a new format and calling it ODI's!
